John 14:1
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God[a]; believe also in me.
Let not your heart be troubled. It doesn't mean troubles will not come, but it simply means that someone is in charge of your situation.
Believe in God also believe in me. he actually says trust me for I will take care of your situation. (Cast your worries to Jesus and he result them to a better solution).
Psalm 55
1 Listen to my prayer, O God,
do not ignore my plea;
2 hear me and answer me.
My thoughts trouble me and I am distraught
3 because of what my enemy is saying,
because of the threats of the wicked;
for they bring down suffering on me
and assail me in their anger.
4 My heart is in anguish within me;
the terrors of death have fallen on me.
5 Fear and trembling have beset me;
horror has overwhelmed me.
6 I said, “Oh, that I had the wings of a dove!
I would fly away and be at rest.
7 I would flee far away
and stay in the desert;[c]
8 I would hurry to my place of shelter,
far from the tempest and storm.”
Psalm 55:22
Cast your cares on the Lord
and he will sustain you;
he will never let
the righteous be shaken.
We are in a world that has enough troubles but we should know God is incharge of them all. Psalms 55:1-8 and 22.
-Troubles are part of believers life and God allows them to come in order to root us more and stronger in christ. Job 19:1-24.
Job 19
Then Job replied:
2 “How long will you torment me
and crush me with words?
3 Ten times now you have reproached me;
shamelessly you attack me.
4 If it is true that I have gone astray,
my error remains my concern alone.
5 If indeed you would exalt yourselves above me
and use my humiliation against me,
6 then know that God has wronged me
and drawn his net around me.
7 “Though I cry, ‘Violence!’ I get no response;
though I call for help, there is no justice.
8 He has blocked my way so I cannot pass;
he has shrouded my paths in darkness.
9 He has stripped me of my honor
and removed the crown from my head.
10 He tears me down on every side till I am gone;
he uproots my hope like a tree.
11 His anger burns against me;
he counts me among his enemies.
12 His troops advance in force;
they build a siege ramp against me
and encamp around my tent.
13 “He has alienated my family from me;
my acquaintances are completely estranged from me.
14 My relatives have gone away;
my closest friends have forgotten me.
15 My guests and my female servants count me a foreigner;
they look on me as on a stranger.
16 I summon my servant, but he does not answer,
though I beg him with my own mouth.
17 My breath is offensive to my wife;
I am loathsome to my own family.
18 Even the little boys scorn me;
when I appear, they ridicule me.
19 All my intimate friends detest me;
those I love have turned against me.
20 I am nothing but skin and bones;
I have escaped only by the skin of my teeth.
21 “Have pity on me, my friends, have pity,
for the hand of God has struck me.
22 Why do you pursue me as God does?
Will you never get enough of my flesh?
23 “Oh, that my words were recorded,
that they were written on a scroll,
24 that they were inscribed with an iron tool on lead,
or engraved in rock forever!
25 I know that my redeemer ,lives,
and that in the end he will stand on the earth.
26 And after my skin has been destroyed,
yet in my flesh I will see God;
27 I myself will see him
with my own eyes—I, and not another.
How my heart yearns within me!
28 “If you say, ‘How we will hound him,
since the root of the trouble lies in him,’
29 you should fear the sword yourselves;
for wrath will bring punishment by the sword,
and then you will know that there is judgment.”
No trouble that has been too difficult for our God hata hiyo yako haijamshinda Mungu (even that problem that you have has not overcome God).
Jeremiah 32:27.
“I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?
Job 30:26.
But when I looked for good, evil came to me; And when I waited for light, then came darkness.
But when I looked for good, evil came to me; And when I waited for light, then came darkness.
Hatakama umegonjea siku njema ukaikosa na badala yake mambo mabaya ndiyo yajayo zidi kuomba na kutumaini Mungu (even if you have been waiting for a better day which did not pass but things became worse continue praying and trusting in God). Don't give up and don't sin, for it's always darkest before dawn
Psalms 30:5b.
5 For his anger lasts only a moment,
but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.
Job 1:
22 In spite of everything that had happened, Job did not sin by blaming God.Job 42
2 I know, Lord, that you are all-powerful;
that you can do everything you want.
Your troubles will not last forever. Elihu said God must answer Job since Job was innocent.
Job 32:12
I gave you my full attention.
But not one of you has proved Job wrong;
none of you has answered his arguments.
What Troubles Bring in our Christian Life
1. Grows our prayer life and our intimacy with God.
2. Provokes our faith that results in a positive report.
1 Samuel 17:37-58.
37 The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.”
Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you.”
38 Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. 39 David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them.
“I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul, “because I am not used to them.” So he took them off. 40 Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.
41 Meanwhile, the Philistine, with his shield bearer in front of him, kept coming closer to David. 42 He looked David over and saw that he was little more than a boy, glowing with health and handsome, and he despised him. 43 He said to David, “Am I a dog, that you come at me with sticks?” And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. 44 “Come here,” he said, “and I’ll give your flesh to the birds and the wild animals!”
45 David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. 47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”
48 As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. 49 Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell facedown on the ground.
50 So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.
51 David ran and stood over him. He took hold of the Philistine’s sword and drew it from the sheath. After he killed him, he cut off his head with the sword.
When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran. 52 Then the men of Israel and Judah surged forward with a shout and pursued the Philistines to the entrance of Gath[a] and to the gates of Ekron. Their dead were strewn along the Shaaraim road to Gath and Ekron. 53 When the Israelites returned from chasing the Philistines, they plundered their camp.
54 David took the Philistine’s head and brought it to Jerusalem; he put the Philistine’s weapons in his own tent.
55 As Saul watched David going out to meet the Philistine, he said to Abner, commander of the army, “Abner, whose son is that young man?”
Abner replied, “As surely as you live, Your Majesty, I don’t know.”
56 The king said, “Find out whose son this young man is.”
57 As soon as David returned from killing the Philistine, Abner took him and brought him before Saul, with David still holding the Philistine’s head.
58 “Whose son are you, young man?” Saul asked him.
David said, “I am the son of your servant Jesse of Bethlehem.”
3.Makes us to fix our eyes on God and also put our trust in God for our help.
Psalms 121:1-2.
1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
When Troubles hit your life, Just Remember
1. The Lord is good to them who trust in Him
He is too good not to fail us a stronghold and very ready to deliver us from all our troubles. Nahum 1:7.
The Lord is good,
a refuge in times of trouble.
He cares for those who trust in him,
2. They are not made to destroy us
Troubles may pitch you down and try to crush you but God will not allow them destroy you.
2 Corinthians 4:8-9.
3. The Lord will save you
8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
You may be in the midst of many troubles confused and without hope just believe God will save you.
Psalm 138:7
Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
you preserve my life.
You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes;
with your right hand you save me.
4. He is with you
Your troubles doesn't take away God's presence from you infact God is ever present to save you.
Isaiah 43:2-5
5. It's for your good and serves God's purpose in your life
2 When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
3 For I am the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I give Egypt for your ransom,
Cush[a] and Seba in your stead.
4 Since you are precious and honored in my sight,
and because I love you,
I will give people in exchange for you,
nations in exchange for your life.
5 Do not be afraid, for I am with you;
I will bring your children from the east
and gather you from the west.
Romans 8:28
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.
6. They are not permanent
Your current troubles are not permanent and should not make you fear seeing your better tomorrow.
Matthew 6:34
Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
They shouldn't bother you nor take away your peace.
They shouldn't make you anxious for anything nor take away your inner peace.
They shouldn't bother you nor take away your peace.
They shouldn't make you anxious for anything nor take away your inner peace.
Philippians 4:6-7.
I go to prepare a home for you
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
He says I will go and make a home for you. Jesus is busy preparing for your eternal home, so don't be troubled about where you will live. He has taken care of that.
Thomas was just confused, and he wanted Jesus to clarify to them which way he was talking about, and which place he was going to. What Jesus was telling them was simply to follow His example (verse 5).
Jesus, the way to the Father
Jesus becomes the only way to the Father. Again, He is the true way to the Father, and also he is the life that leads us to the Father (verse 6).
Jesus becomes the only way to the Father. Again, He is the true way to the Father, and also he is the life that leads us to the Father (verse 6).
Jesus and the Father become one
He explains to his disciples their relationship with the Father so that they may know, since from the beginning he never walked and worked alone, and so whatever he was doing was by the Father's authority (verses 10 and 11).
You can walk with God for so long and begin to assume His work and think you are the one doing all this work. Yet you fail to know it's not your power, but he is the one enabling you to do the work.
Whatever we do successfully, it's God working through us.
Believing in Jesus qualifies you to do even greater things (verses 12 to 13)
Those who believe in Jesus, He does everything they ask the Father through his name (verses 13 and 14).
