God sometimes chooses to show His glory in weakness.
In this, Paul reminded the Philippians that his current place of humble circumstances (his Roman imprisonment) could still show forth the glory and power of God, even as Jesus did in His humility.
Unfortunately, we only tend to identify God in greatness.
This is our greatest struggle because when we are going through difficulties and challenges, we tend to think God is not in control.
When disaster, sickness, death or loss comes, we can't see God yet He is in perfect control
Paul said in my weaknesses God strength is made perfect.
2 Corinthians 12
9. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
9. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
Remember also that God can use all circumstances to bring glory.
Romans 8
28. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
So God can work in any circumstances, good or bad, to display his glory.
