Subtitle: Through Faith, Ordinary People Do Extraordinary Things

Scripture: Hebrews 11:1–10, Matthew 14:26–31, 2 Corinthians 5:7

1: Introduction – What is Faith? (Hebrews 11:1)

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Faith is confidence in God’s promises before they happen. It is like holding a title deed of land you have not yet stepped on—you know it is yours because God said so.
Faith is not feelings. Faith is not what we see. Faith is believing and standing on God’s Word even when storms surround us.

Illustration – Peter Walking on Water (Matthew 14:26–31):

When Peter fixed his eyes on Jesus, he walked on water—an ordinary fisherman doing the extraordinary.
But when he looked at the waves, he began to sink.
Lesson: Don’t focus on storms, sickness, lack, or fear. Focus on Jesus.

Application:
What storm is around you? Marriage? Finances? Health? Faith says: “Keep your eyes on Jesus, not on the waves.”

2 Corinthians 5:7 reminds us: “We walk by faith, not by sight.”
Faith is not about seeing; it is about trusting the invisible God who holds the visible world.

2: Faith Commended by God (Hebrews 11:2–3)

“For by it the elders obtained a good report. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God…”

Faith was the mark of God’s heroes in history—they trusted Him, and their lives became testimonies.
By faith, we understand creation itself. God spoke, and the universe existed.

Application:
=> Faith is believing that the unseen Word has power to shape reality.
=>Just as God spoke the universe into being, He can speak over your life, family, and future.

=> You may not see how your life will turn out, but by faith, believe that God is working behind the scenes.

3: Faith in Abel, Enoch, and Noah (Hebrews 11:4–7)

Verse 4 – Abel:
=> Abel offered a better sacrifice because he trusted God.
=> Faith turns ordinary giving into extraordinary worship.

Verse 5 – Enoch:
Enoch walked with God daily and pleased Him. He did not experience death.
Application: Faith is not only for miracles—it’s for walking closely with God in everyday life.

Verse 6:
=> “Without faith it is impossible to please God…”
=> Faith is the key to God’s heart. If you want God’s reward, live by faith.

Verse 7 – Noah:
=> Built an ark when rain had never fallen. People mocked him, but he obeyed.
=>  Sometimes faith looks foolish, but obedience to God will save you and your family.

      Faith of Abraham (Hebrews 11:8–10)
=> Verse 8: Abraham obeyed God without knowing where he was going.
=> Faith means moving even when you don’t see the full map. Trust God step by step.

=> Verse 9: He lived in tents, showing he was a pilgrim.

Main Points

=> Faith keeps us from being too attached to this world. Our true home is eternal.
Verse 10: He looked for a city whose builder is God.
=> Faith is future-focused. Don’t only live for now—live with eternity in view.

Summary, Application and Declaration

=> Faith is assurance in God’s promises (v.1). Keep your eyes on Jesus, not storms.
=> Faith gives us testimony before God (v.2–3).
=> Faith changes worship (Abel), our walk (Enoch), and our obedience (Noah) (v.4–7).
=> Faith leads us to radical obedience and eternal

=> In this life, there are many things to fear—storms, trials, sickness, poverty—but Jesus says: “Do not be afraid.”
=> Once you focus on storms, you sink. But once you focus on Jesus, you rise.

Declaration

=> I declare that through faith, ordinary people in this church will do extraordinary things.
=> I declare that storms will not drown you—you will walk on water with Jesus.
=>I declare that your faith will bring testimony, please God, and secure your destiny.
=> I declare that like Abraham, you will step into promises greater than what you see today.

📌 Conclusion

=> “Brothers and sisters, let us walk by faith and not by sight. Keep your eyes on Jesus, and you will see Him turn your ordinary life into an extraordinary testimony.”
=> FINALLY

Sermon: Faith That Endures

📖 Scripture: Romans 5:3–5
---

Introduction

Good morning brothers and sisters in Christ.
Today I want to talk about something very important—Faith that endures.
The Bible in Romans 5:3–5 says:
"Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit."
---

1. Faith is trusting God in all circumstances

Faith is not only when things are good.
Faith means trusting God even when life is hard.
Just like Job, who lost everything but still said: “I know that my Redeemer lives.”
👉 Children: Faith means saying, “I will trust God no matter what happens!”
---

2. Faith helps us to persevere

Life is not always easy. Sometimes we face problems at school, at home, or even in our health.
But faith gives us the strength to keep going.
When we endure, we become strong in character.
👉 Children: When you feel like giving up, remember faith says, “God is with me, I will not stop.”
--

3. Faith brings hope

When we trust God, He fills us with hope.
Hope means believing something better is coming because God is in control.
Hope never disappoints, because God always keeps His Word.
👉 Children: Even when things are tough, say, “I believe God has a good plan for me.”
---

4. Example of Job

Job went through many problems—he lost his wealth, his children, and his health.
But Job never gave up on God.
His story shows us that real faith is not giving up, but holding on.
--

Conclusion

Faith is trusting God in all circumstances.
Faith helps us to persevere when life is hard.
Faith gives us hope that never fails.
So, children of God, let us be like Job and like the heroes of faith.
Let us trust God always and remain steadfast in His Word.
