John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
He became poor so that we may be eternally rich. The greatest wealth He gave us was not worldly materials but eternal life.
It is very wrong to be born again so that you may be worldly rich, since that was not God's aim in giving His only begotten Son.
No man living fully in this body will see God.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.
You hang around doing all kinds of evil and pampering the flesh and think you will see God? That is a total lie.
Luke 9:23
Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me."
You must be a full man and a full Christian in this body, but controlled and led by the Holy Spirit of God and not the flesh.
You should take care of this body and not listen to and pamper it so much; tuwe na kiasi [let us have moderation], since it is working contrary to the spirit.
Proverbs 25:16
Have you found honey? Eat only as much as you need, lest you be filled with it and vomit.
The God in a man must be greater than the man who is in the flesh. When the flesh overgrows the spirit, this is what happens: you gratify the desires of the body. But Galatians 5:16 tells us:
Galatians 5:16
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
No way shall you see God while you are living the life of Adam in the body of Adam. You need to die and resurrect with Christ.
Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
It means a believer's old sinful self is "dead" with Christ, and their new life is empowered and directed by Christ living through them by the Holy Spirit, living by faith, not self-effort.
Crucified with Christ: Your old sinful nature and self-centred life died with Jesus on the cross; you share in His death.
No Longer I Who Live: Your identity is not based on your own will or power anymore.
Colossians 3:3
For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
This is a core Christian belief that your true, eternal life is not in the earthly world but secure with Jesus in heaven, meaning you are eternally safe, protected, and your identity is found in Him, not worldly things. It signifies dying to your old self and being raised to a new, spiritually secure life with God, where your ultimate focus shifts to heavenly things.
Eternal Security: Your life is doubly protected (like being in a bank vault) by Christ and God, making you inseparable from God's love.
New Identity: You have died to your sinful, worldly life, and your new, real life is found with Christ.
Protection from Evil: This security shields you from spiritual harm and earthly troubles.
Heavenly Focus: Because your life is "up there," you are called to set your mind and affections on things above, not on earthly things.
Future Revelation: When Christ appears, you will appear with Him in glory, revealing your true, transformed self.
Focus on Christ: Instead of seeking self-fulfilment here, focus on Christ, who holds your true life.
Live from a New Reality: Your behaviour should reflect this new identity, putting aside earthly desires and living righteously.
Find Peace in Trials: Even in struggles, you can find peace knowing your ultimate life is secure with God.
Christ Lives in Me: Jesus's life, power, and presence now animate you through the Holy Spirit.
Live by Faith: You live your daily life trusting and relying on Jesus, not your own performance or the law.
