John 14:6
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."
I. Jesus Christ Is the Way Out
The way OUT. So many folks today are looking for a WAY OUT—any way out. People do drugs, alcohol, sin, even take their own life as a way out. One of the things I have seen today more than in the past is that people have some real life-changing, life-threatening problems.
a.) Jesus is the WAY OUT of difficulties and perplexities (Kuchanganyikiwa) that threaten our lives every day.
Psalm 34:4-7
I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them.
b.) Jesus is the WAY OUT from under the condemnation and guilt that weigh us down.
Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
c.) Jesus is the WAY OUT of failure and even emptiness.
Luke 6:21
Blessed are you who hunger now, for you shall be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you shall laugh.
d.) Jesus is the WAY OUT of spiritual death.
John 14:23
Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him."
Jesus the Way Out of Bondage: Just as God led Israel out of Egypt, Jesus offers a way out of the bondage of sin, destructive habits, and spiritual darkness.
The Way Through: Often, rather than simply removing you from a difficult situation, Jesus provides the strength, grace, and presence to walk victoriously through it.
Isaiah 43:2
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.
Ultimate Deliverance: Beyond earthly struggles, His teachings and sacrifice provide an eternal way out of death and separation from God.
John 10:10-11
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.
Jesus the Way Out of Old Perspective to a New Perspective: Encountering His presence is said to be impossible without experiencing a shift, helping believers to navigate trials rather than just seeking quick escape routes.
Genesis 2:17
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
The thing that encourages me today is that no matter what we might be going through or facing, ALWAYS REMEMBER that Jesus Christ is the WAY OUT—and the only way out.
II. Jesus Christ Is the Way In
John 14:6b
"No one comes to the Father except through Me."
a.) Not only is Jesus Christ the WAY IN, but He is the ONLY way in.
Acts 4:10-12
"Let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. This is the 'stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.' Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
If you intend to be everything God wants you to be, if you intend to know your purpose here on earth, if you intend to spend eternity in heaven and not hell, then know this morning that Jesus is the WAY IN.
b.) Jesus is the WAY IN to life and love. (Without Jesus, there would be no life and love.)
c.) Jesus is the WAY IN to hope and peace. (Without Jesus, there is no hope or peace.)
Job 14:7-9
For there is hope for a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its tender shoots will not cease. Though its root may grow old in the earth, and its stump may die in the ground, yet at the scent of water it will bud and bring forth branches like a plant.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
d.) Jesus is the only WAY IN to what makes life meaningful and beautiful.
III. Jesus Christ Is the Way Through
a.) The thing I have learned about tomorrow is that it is UNCERTAIN. Job had no idea when he went to bed that night that the next day was going to be the worst day of his life. When we go to bed at night, we can only assume (kudhani) and hope what tomorrow will bring. Yet it remains uncertain.
But Jesus is the WAY THROUGH every uncertainty, every storm, every trial. He does not just show us the way out or the way in—He walks with us all the way through.
