Teens' Sunday: Salt of the Earth, April 26, 2026

Matthew 5:13

You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

You are the whole salt of the earth for the whole human race. But if salt loses its saltiness, there is no way to make it salty again. It becomes worthless, so it is thrown out and trampled underfoot.

What Does Salt Do? (The Power of Salt)

Salt is tasty, so it adds flavor to food. So as a Christian, you are good salt. This makes sinners want to live your life. As a Christian, are you salt that destroys the salt of the food?

Did you know that 28% of your body is made up of salt? Back in those days, salt was a commodity that was valuable and was treated as money or salary, and also in barter trade business. We should be valuable, significant, and important as salt. We should be making an impact as salt in our world.

Salt is produced by mixing two chemical reactions. Likewise, when a sinner is connected with Jesus, there is going to be a spiritual reaction that causes change in their lives. These are faith and repentance.

  • When you repent na [with] no faith, there is no experienced change.

  • When you have faith and no true repentance, still there is no change.

  • But when you repent and you have faith, there is total change in your life because those two go together.

We have a salt called smelling salt. The purpose of it is that when you lose consciousness, you can just smell that salt and come back. So when you apply that smelling salt in our lives, we are going to wake up the world.

Seasoning

Salt prepares the food and adds flavor to the food. We should be putting and adding the right flavor to the people.
