Friday Family Service - The Anointing Breaks the Yoke, January 23, 2026

Reverend Michael Mwangi

Senior Pastor, Fedha Church, Kenya Assemblies of God

Isaiah 10:27

And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

This verse promised relief to God's people from the Assyrian oppression (the Assyrian yoke) through God's power.

The anointing breaks the yoke

This powerful biblical phrase, which shows God's divine power, is often associated with the Holy Spirit and destroys spiritual bondage, limitations, and oppression, bringing freedom from burdens of sin, sickness, or demonic influence, much like it freed Israel from Assyrian oppression and sets captives free today.

The anointing signifies God's presence and power that overcomes seemingly impossible obstacles, breaking spiritual chains and restoring freedoms. Yoke weighs you down and puts limitations on you while you struggle with life and situations.

The anointing represents the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, which is God's divine empowerment, or even God's blessing that makes the impossible possible.

The anointing symbolises bondage, control, heavy burdens, spiritual stagnation, demonic influence, sin, or oppression.

The anointing brings deliverance since it is a powerful weapon for spiritual warfare that breaks chains of bondage, addiction, fear, sickness, and mental limitations.

Jesus was anointed by the the Holyspirit to minister and break all manner of yokes.

Luke 4:18-19

The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.

Through the indwelling Holy Spirit,  the believers have access to this power to overcome challenges.

Today, we are activating the power of God, which is already given to us, to break free from oppressive circumstances.

Every stronghold and yoke must break in Jesus' name through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:11

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Ephesians 1:19-20

19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,

Romans 8:11 states that   the Spirit of God, who raised Jesus, lives in believers, and He will give life to their mortal bodies; Ephesians 1:19-20 also highlights this same immense power working in believers, emphasising God's mighty strength that resurrected Christ.

Tonight, this same divine power, the Holy Spirit, that brought Jesus back to life, is present within believers, and will raise us to new levels, new glory as yokes are broken.
