Do not be Troubled , September 21, 2025

By Reverend Alex Titus

John 14:1

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

Let not your heart be troubled. It doesn't mean troubles will not come, but it simply means that someone is in charge of your situation.

Believe in God, and also believe in me. He actually says, 'Trust me, for I will take care of your situation.' (Cast your worries to Jesus and he resolves them to a better solution)

We are in a world that has enough troubles but we should know God is in charge of them all.

Psalms 55:1-8, 22.

1 Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.
2 Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;
3 Because of the voice of the enemy, because of the oppression of the wicked: for they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath they hate me.
4 My heart is sore pained within me: and the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
5 Fearfulness and trembling are come upon me, and horror hath overwhelmed me.
6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.
7 Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.
8 I would hasten my escape from the windy storm and tempest.
22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Troubles are part of a believer's life and God allows them to come to root us more deeply and stronger in Christ.

Job 19:1-28.
1 Then Job answered and said,
2 How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?
3 These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.
4 And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.
5 If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:
6 Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.
7 Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.
8 He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.
9 He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.
10 He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.
11 He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.
12 His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.
13 He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.
14 My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.
15 They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.
16 I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.
17 My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children's sake of mine own body.
18 Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.
19 All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.
20 My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.
21 Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.
22 Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?
23 Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!
24 That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!
25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
28 But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?

What Troubles Bring in Our Christian Life

1. Grows our prayer life and our intimacy with God.
2. Provokes our faith that results in a positive report. 1 Samuel 17:37-58.
3. It makes us fix our eyes on God and also put our trust in God for our help. Psalms 121:1-2.

When Troubles Hit Your Life Just Remember

1. The Lord is Good to Them Who Trust in Him
He is too good not to fail us a strong hold and very ready to deliver us from all our troubles.
Nahum 1:7.
The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.

2. They are Not Made to Destroy Us
Troubles may pitch you down and try to crush you but God will not allow them destroy you.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9.

8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;
9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

3. The Lord Will Save You
You may be in the midst of many troubles, confused and without hope, but just believe God will save you.

Psalms 138:7

7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.

4. He is With You

Your troubles don't take away God's presence from you, in fact God is ever present to save you.

Isaiah 43:2-5

2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
3 For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.
5 Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;

5. It’s for Your Good and Serves God's Purpose in Your Life

Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

6. They are not Permanent

Your current troubles are not permanent and should not make you fear to see your better tomorrow.

Matthew 6:34

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

They shouldn't bother you nor take away your peace.
They shouldn't make you anxious for anything nor take away your inner peace.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

I go to Prepare a Home for you

He says I will go and make a home for you Jesus is busy preparing for your eternal home so don't be troubled where you will live he has taken care of that.

Thomas was just confused, and he wanted Jesus to clarify to them which way he was talking about, and which place he was going. What Jesus was telling them was simply follow my examples v5

Jesus, the way to the Father

Jesus becomes the only way to the Father again, he is the true way to the Father and also he is the life that leads us to the Father.v6

Jesus and the Father become one

He explains to his disciples their relationship with the Father so that they may know since from the beginning he never walked and worked alone, and so whatever he was doing was by the Father's authority.v10&11

You can walk with God for so long and begin to assume his work and think you are the one doing all this work. Yet you miss to know it's not your power but he is the one enabling you to do the work.

Whatever we do successfully, it's God working through us.
Believing in Jesus qualifies you to do even greater things. V12-13
Those who believe in Jesus he does everything they ask the father through his name. v13&14.A
