John 1:12
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Sons bear the father nature, they have the same character and manifest the same.
The central character of Our Father is His holiness.
Since we are sons of the most holy God we need to display and manifest God’s highest glory. The glory of holiness.
Our father's kingdom is a kingdom of righteousness.
Romans 14:17
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,
This is our highest calling, glorifying him by living a separated life. That is what should define us too.
1 Peter 2:9.
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
We were brought from darkness to His light so that we manifest His light. We are therefore children of the light.
1 Thessalonians 5:5.
You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.
The world is full of spiritual darkness and Jesus is the light of the world. When we walk in the light in this dark world we glorify God.
Matthew 5:16
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Righteousness amplifies God's kingdom as it glorifies Him
Wickedness similarly enlarges and empowers the kingdom of darkness which is the kingdom of sin and death. This is why Jesus came to establish His kingdom of light too. That gives men life and destroys the kingdom of darkness
1 John 3:8.
The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.
How can we as believers embrace a sinful life after knowing Jesus? Let's remember we are sons of the kingdom and live in Holiness. Holiness is not just a requirement but it is important and beneficial for sons
1. Fruit Bearing
A walk of holiness results in fruitfulness.
God's desire for us as sons is to bear fruits.
Fruitfulness is the true mark of sonship.
Remember we are recognized by the fruits.
John 15:8.
This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.
John 15
4. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
5. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
The fruits of sons is the fruit of righteousness which is the fruit of the Holy Spirits.
Galatians 5:22.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23. gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
When this fruit is in us love evident and God is love so people see God in us. As sons it is this fruit that will make the world recognize God in us. When we live in Holiness we live in love.
John 13:34-35
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
2. Noble vessel
2 Timothy 2
Walking in righteousness gives you the privileges of being used in God's kingdom for noble purposes.
20. In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use.
21. Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.
3. Exercise Power and Authority
Believers have been given Power and Authority over Satan.
Luke 10:19.
I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
It is one thing to have the power and authority but remember they are only useful as per jurisdiction.
When we cleanse ourselves we can exercise and walk in the power and authority that is given to us.
When we walk in sin we lose this authority.
A sinner cannot rebuke sinner, he has no mandate
Acts 19:14.
Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this.
15. One day the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?”
16. Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.
Sin always denies us power and authority
We cannot rebuke the enemy or situation and though we are children of God, we continue to be dominated and under oppression.
We may declare and decree, by fire by force at the top of our voice but instead of the situation moving or changing nothing changes or even things get worse.
Holiness unlocks power and authority
Hebrews 1
8. But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; < a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
9. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.”
The more we walk in Holiness with God the more we are empowered to exercise power and authority.
4. Access
Holiness ensures a right relationship with God. Relationship open access. Holiness ensures a right relationship that guarantees you access to God and His blessings.
Hebrews 12:14.
Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness, no one will see the Lord.
Matthew 5:8.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
We will have unlimited access hence a fulfilled life of abundance
John 15:7.
If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
Sin hinders our relationship with God
Despite the great promises and blessings in Him, we miss enjoying them because we have no access. As a result, we live with limitations because we have no access or limited access
5. Father's Love
John 15:10.
If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.
When we walk in holiness we remain in Father's love and enjoy His love.
Where there is love, gifts abound and when we are loved by the Father we will enjoy access to His blessing as His gifts.
Father's love comes with His presence, protection and Providence.
We will enjoy true joy and great peace that is not man-made.
John 15:11.
I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.
