Exodus 33
18. Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”
19. And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
20. But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.”
21. Then the Lord said, “There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock.
22. When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by.
23. Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen.”
Anyone who wishes to see God in 2024 will have to position himself.
Moses had been meeting with God and even spent 40 days in his presence. But this seemed just like a glimpse of him only. It is like he has seen God over the counter. He has loved the beauty of his holiness and desires to see it in fullness.
His greatest desire is to see God's glory in fullness no longer partially.
It is like the way you see a movie preview or trial and you long to see the whole movie. You can't wait.
So when Moses had this one life opportunity, he requested his heart desire. To see the Glory of God.
God agreed on the condition, that he (Moses) would only see his back. He cannot see his face because that would kill him. THUS GOD WOULD HAVE to cover his (Moses') face.
Secondly, he will have to move to a specific position. Though Moses had been meeting God and having face-to-face conversations, he was only seeing him partially. In order to see His glory in His fullness, he had to position himself at a certain place on a specific rock. I truly believe this rock was no ordinary but the rock Jesus Christ.
If you want to see the glory of God, in 2024. We must position ourselves on Christ and Him alone.
Everyone who encountered Jesus and experienced his glory had positioned himself or herself.
Just take a look at a few examples
Mark 10
46. Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging.
47. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
48. Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
Bartimaeus had positioned himself strategically. Right at the exit of the city gate not at home. When he heard that Jesus was passing by, he knew he would not be able to make it through the press of people who surrounded Jesus. So blind Bartimaeus called out to Jesus. He positioned himself with his voice and he got his attention.
When JESUS passed by and he could not position himself physically, he positioned himself with his voice to the ears of Jesus.
There was a multitude of needy people around and walking with Jesus but only Bartimaeus received a miracle though he was even a distance away and could not see him. He positioned himself and possessed his miracle.
Mark 5
24. So Jesus went with him. A large crowd followed and pressed around him.
25. And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years.
26. She had suffered a great deal under the care of many doctors and had spent all she had, yet instead of getting better she grew worse.
27. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak,
28. because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.”
29. Immediately her bleeding stopped and she felt in her body that she was freed from her suffering.
30. At once Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?”
31. “You see the people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, “and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?’ ”
32. But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it.
This woman had suffered a great deal under many doctors. She came to the conclusion if she was going to possess her healing, she needed to position herself with a better option, that is Jesus.
The nature of her sickness was both shameful and demeaning and left her physically and financially depleted. It also put her off society because it made her unclean throughout. This is why she could not seek a face-to-face appointment with Jesus or touch him. But she positioned herself in faith and touched his garment and possessed her healing. She did not sit at home. She positioned herself where she could touch his garment.
Notice there was a multitude pushing around Jesus loaded with needs but none touched him for real. In fact, it would be impossible to identify who touched Jesus physically because everyone pushed around him.
Acts 3
2. Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts.
3. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money.
4. Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!”
5. So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.
6. Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”
This man sat at the gate not in the church or at home. He positioned himself where help would come by either from all passing by or entering the church like Peter and James.
From this position, he possessed his miracle and entered the church.
This year if you want to see God in your life. You must position yourself in holiness.
You will have to move away from certain lifestyles or associations if you desire to possess his presence.
Hebrews 12
14. Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.
Matthew 5:8. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
