John 1:35-51
God's heartbeat is for mission, his greatest mission is to save every lost soul
35 The next day John was there again with two of his disciples. 36 When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!”
37 When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus. 38 Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, “What do you want?”
They said, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?”
39 “Come,” he replied, “and you will see.” So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon.
40 Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. 41 The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ). 42 And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which, when translated, is Peter).
43 The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, “Follow me.”
44 Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. 45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
46 “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked. “Come and see,” said Philip.
47 When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, “Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.”
48 “How do you know me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, “I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.”
49 Then Nathanael declared, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel.”
50 Jesus said, “You believe[b] because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.” 51 He then added, “Very truly I tell you,[c] you[d] will see ‘heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on’[e] the Son of Man.”
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
God hates sin but he loves sinners. This is the only reason he gave his only begotten son. It is not God's will that any man should perish. He desires everyone to be saved
2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
That's why he has commanded us to share the Gospel with the whole world.
Mark 16.15
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
He has commanded us to preach the gospel starting with Jerusalem... home. Family members and our friends or those around us
Luke 24:47
and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Remember the only thing we take with us to heaven is people, so why not start with our very own even as God desires. Let's bring them along.
This is because the promise of salvation and the Holy Spirit is for us and our children. That is why we need to start with our families and relatives
Acts 2:38
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
39. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”
When Andrew found out about Jesus, he first thought of his brother Simon later named Peter.
John 1:41.
The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ).
Philip too looked for his closest friend Nathanael or (Bartholomew).
John 1:45.
Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of God wants to save us and the whole of our families.
Pattern of Family Salvation
God saved Noah and his family. Genesis 7:1
God called Abraham and his household Genesis 12
God saved Lot and his family Genesis 19:15
God Joshua God saved Rahab with her family and relatives Genesis 6:25
Acts 16
30. He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
31. They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”
32. Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house.
33. At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized.
34. The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole household.
When Cornelius knew Peter was coming to bring the good news to him, He gathered all his relatives and friends. When Peter ministered, All present got saved and filled up by the Holy Spirit.
Acts 10:24
The following day he arrived in Caesarea. Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends.
44. While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message.
How great would it be to have our whole family saved, filled with the Holy Spirit and be with them in heaven forever.
This is the heart of the Father in heaven. We are saved first in our families so that we bring the rest to Christ. We can do a lot for our family members to help their lives but the greatest gift we can do is to save them for eternity. How terrible it will be for us to be in heaven when we know they are dying in hell. Let's not even imagine such a scenario.
Genesis 44:34
How can I go back to my father if the boy is not with me? No! Do not let me see the misery that would come on my father.”
How can I go back to my father in heaven without my son, mum, sis bro that best friend... That will break the heart of the Father yet I had the gospel with and knowing Jesus died for all. Let's remember the only thing we take with us in heaven is people. Let's bring them along.
