Exodus 3
7. The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.
8. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.
Introduction
Despite the long season of darkness, pain, shame, suffering and oppression, God always remembers his people because of his love and goodness. When He does so, He changes their seasons. May is the fifth month. Biblically 5 symbolizes God's grace [unmerited favour] goodness and favour towards men. Twenty-five, 25, is multiplied grace by itself which is grace upon grace.
John 1: 16, out of his fullness we have received grace in place of grace already given.
As we enter the month of May, we will enter a new season of God's grace, goodness and favour that will usher great peace, joy, abundance, increase, open doors, healing, rest and fulfilment. From May God is coming through for us. Not because we deserve it but because his goodness is upon us. He has always done it for his people and will remember us and come through for us. Don't give up wakati wa kibali cha Bwana umewadia (the time of favour has come).
1. God has seen your troubles
God said he had seen the misery of his people. People may close their eyes to your suffering. But God knows your pain, struggles, shame and hurt. He is the Lord who sees what you are going through.
Genesis 16:13.
She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”
God is therefore aware of what you are going through. You are not forgotten, He is coming through for you. Bwana anafamu mapito yako (God knows what you are going through).
Job 23:10.
But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.
2. God has heard you cry
He told the Israelites I have heard your cries. You may have cried for long but God has heard you. You will cry no more. Because He hears when you cry.
Psalm 94: 9.
Does he who fashioned the ear not hear? Does he who formed the eye not see?
He not only hears when you cry, he knows the tears you have shed.
Psalm 56:8.
Record my misery; list my tears on your scroll are they not in your record?
Even when you cry at night alone, there is no tear you have shed that God is not aware of. In fact every tear of pain, God has recorded so that he will wipe all your tears completely. Nobody understands your pain like our heavenly father.
3. God is concerned
God is not just watching and listening to us suffering silently. He is merciful and he is moved by our suffering. He is therefore concerned. He will not allow it to go on forever, He is concerned.
1 Peter 5:10.
And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.
4. God is here to rescue you
I have come down to rescue you. We have a God who is concerned and acts.
Psalm 34
17. The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.
18. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
19. The righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all;
5. God will do it
2 Kings 20
5. “Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord.
6. He is a God who remembers his people
Genesis 8
1. But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded.
God remember me. Show me your grace: goodness and favour.
