Luke 2:49

And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”

We are co-builders with God

Haggai 1:1-9

On August 29 of the second year of King Darius’s reign, the LORD gave a message through the prophet Haggai to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Jeshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. “This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: The people are saying, ‘The time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the LORD.’” Then the LORD sent this message through the prophet Haggai: “Why are you living in luxurious houses while my house lies in ruins? This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: Look at what’s happening to you! You have planted much but harvest little. You eat but are not satisfied. You drink but are still thirsty. You put on clothes but cannot keep warm. Your wages disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes! “This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says: Look at what’s happening to you! Now go up into the hills, bring down timber, and rebuild my house. Then I will take pleasure in it and be honored, says the LORD. You hoped for rich harvests, but they were poor. And when you brought your harvest home, I blew it away. Why? Because my house lies in ruins, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, while all of you are busy building your own fine houses.

Kingdom is in the business of building his kingdom

As the prince and princes of the kingdom, our greatest agenda must also be about building our Father's kingdom. Our Father's agenda should be our main agenda. If we want to prosper then we must prioritize kingdom building agenda. If it's his idea, it is his agenda and he will do it through us so that we may share in his blessing. Not that we may help him but he is able to do it without us

We must be about God's business and agendas

Luke 2:49

And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”

God's vision must be our mission

His command must be our agenda

If we neglect his agenda he will neglect us

God's agenda

Haggai 1:

Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Consider your ways.

8 Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the Lord.

9 Ye looked for much, and, lo it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the Lord of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house

Having considered our ways, the wisest option is prioritizing Building a house for God. His agenda must be our greatest agenda or else we cease to be his agenda. And because of ignoring his agenda he has ignored us and that is why we are struggling. He is therefore commanding us we build him a house that he deserves.

God has standards

1. One that will please him. Not just any building. It must be one that shows we love him.

2. One that will Glorify him. A great house such that when people look at it they Glorify God.

Our vision

2 Chronicles 2

5. “The temple I am going to build will be great, because our God is greater than all other gods.

7. “Send me, therefore, a man skilled to work in gold and silver, bronze and iron, and in purple, crimson and blue yarn, and experienced in the art of engraving, to work in Judah and Jerusalem with my skilled workers, whom my father David provided.

8. “Send me also cedar, juniper and algum logs from Lebanon, for I know that your servants are skilled in cutting timber there. My servants will work with yours

9. to provide me with plenty of lumber, because the temple I build must be large and magnificent.

Verse 5 above - Our God is the greatest and deserves the best.

Verse 7 above - God will require the best of our resources.

Verse 8 above - We will even seek help from far and away so as to give our best to our great God.

Verse 9 above- It is going to cost but it will large and magnificent.

We need to give without reservation.

How do we do it

Exodus 25

2. “Tell the Israelites to bring me an offering. You are to receive the offering for me from everyone whose heart prompts them to give.

8. “Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them.

We will give willingly and generously the very best according to our God-given abilities.

Our plan

We pledge generously today and purpose to redeem starting now  and be done by 9th October when we shall have our mega funds drive with guests from outside.

Remember

This is a unique privilege yet we are just giving back to the one who has given us everything we have including life and eternal life.

1 Chronicle 14

‘But who am I and who are my people, that we should be able to as generously as this? Everything comes from you and we have given you only what comes from your hand’
