3 He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and
familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we
held him in low esteem.
4 Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
stricken by him, and
afflicted.
5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our
iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are
healed.
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
each of us has turned to
our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
The central character of God's holy, that is what defines and sets him apart from anything else. He is so holy and righteous that is among other gods is distinguished as Holy or righteous God. nothing unholy cna come near him. This is why sin always separates us from God, it kills our relationship with GOD, sin always kills, sin leads to eternal separation with God which is eternal death. Sin brought death sentence upon everyone, we are born condemned to die because of sin but thank God for his love he sent his only son to die for us. Jesus died for us and instead of us. We receive the forgiveness of sin when we believe in Jesus. Through faith in him we are saved and have eternal life, John 3:16
1. All have sinned
Romans 3. 23. for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
2. Sin always separates us from God
Sin always kills,
Romans 6. 23. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Since everyone is a sinner, it means all of us were under a death sentence.
3. God is a righteous and just God
God is kind and loving, he is love and loves sinners but hates sin.
God cannot overlook sin in loving us.
Sin had to be taken care of for us to be reconciled with him.
His justice required death must take place for the sins committed.
Ezekiel 18: 20
The one who sins is the one who will die. The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them.
4. Sin can only be atoned by death
Death can only be redeemed by death. For forgiveness to take place, life must be taken and that demands blood shed.
Hebrews 9: 22.
In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
5. Life is in the blood
The sure way of taking a life is shedding its blood.
Leviticus 17.11.
For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life.
6. Not just any blood can remedy sin
Hebrews 10:4.
It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
The sacrifices of animals only covered the sins but never took them away. Animal sacrifices were just a temporary solution
5. Jesus the only perfect sacrifice
Jesus was without sin and so the only perfect sacrifice. His death paid for all sin once and for all.
1 John 2:2.
He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
6. God provided for our forgiveness
Romans: 3:25
God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—
Conclusion
Think about this:
Romans 5:7. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.
