1  Samuel. 9:1-21

Introduction

Sometimes life does not always go as expected. The twists and turns of life can bring low moments. The donkeys were a source of livelihood, family wealth, joy and stability. Losing donkeys was a major loss and setback for the family.

Things do happen in life and we find ourselves at the loss of our donkeys. It could be the loss of your job, business, opportunity, marriage, peace, life stability or salvation. It is even hard when we lose the very thing we have been holding thus losing our footing.

We begin a journey of gaining back our footing.  We look everywhere possible. BUT  as it turns out things don't always turn out as expected. Our search for help only ends in despair.  Frustrations may set in at such a time and we can give up in life.

What do you do when you have come to your end?

Do you go down back to familiar options or limp high in faith and seek divine option?

The decision we make at such a moment may cripple us or lift us. No matter where you find yourself in life remember there is God in heaven. When you have done your best it seems there is no other option, don't give up God is there ready with a better solution.

Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength,  an ever-present help in trouble.

1. Salvation does not isolate us from suffering and losses

Misfortune and loss are realities of life. Suffering is normal even for a believer.

Psalms 34

19 The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all;

John 16: 33

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

2. Seek out don't just sit

It is always important to try our best in life to remedy our situation. Some people do nothing about their situations. Our best effort does not always yield victory. But we need it because our actions are a demonstration of faith.

James 2: 26.

As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

Hata kama huna pesa (even if you don't have money) go look for school fee structures uweke kwa nyumba (and keep in your house).

Do all you can you never know mlango itafunguka wapi (which door will open).

Just do your best and hope for the best.

Ecclesiastes 11: 1

Ship your grain across the sea;  after many days you may receive a return.

2. Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight; you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.

Even with the help of others, kuna wakati hata watu wanaweza jaribu kukusidia na usisaidike (there are times people try to help you but you are beyond their help).

3. Don't Give up, Give in to Him

Sometimes even our best efforts foes not always guarantee success. We are left at a loss and disappointed. God is able to turn our disappointment into a divine appointment. He can make all things work together for our good. He can turn our Misfortune into fortunes. It's good in life to have the right people walking with you.

When Saul had run out of options and given up, there was a servant who could see beyond him. Sometimes what looks like a dead end and a mountain is only our own reality. It is just our limitations that make it look so but to others, it is just a hill and they still see the way out.

Who is walking with you in life?

The servant had a heart and a sense of God.

The friends you keep are very critical to your destiny. They come in handy, especially at your low moments. They can raise you or bury you. People often make the worst or the best decisions of their lives at such moments. They give up and become losers in life or rise above their situations and meet their destiny. The course of action you take defines your destiny. When Saul decided to stop seeking after the donkey and seek after  God, He met with his destiny. He found the kingship waiting for him.

Matthew 6:33.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

If you are seeking to change your circumstances for the better,  pursue more of God first and more opportunities will come. Naturally, we seek first more opportunities only to hit a dead end later. It is not more of gains that we need, it is more of God that we need and he will settle our issues and our lives.

Let us make God a priority even in seeking out a solution and he will not just sort our problems but also bless us. Saul not only found the kingship but even the donkeys he was looking for. God has better things than the donkeys you are looking for. When we seek God we will also find all other things. Sometimes we seek all other things, new business careers, and opportunities without result but when we go to God first we get more than we expected.

Our blessings are hidden in Christ. Whatever you have lost or seems out of reach, you will find it in him not elsewhere.

Colossians 1:17.

He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

We must make Jesus the centre of our lives and even of our burdens and issues. He has the best solution. Sometimes we pursue more gains and expansion only to lose more.

They went to the seer not just themselves but with silver. Give more of yourself and your resources God and the heavens will open its door wide open for you.

Conclusion

The big lesson is that God is our only best option for the best results in life. When we have come to our end, God ushers us to a  new begging. God is very close even in our lowest and darkest moments. God's light will shine for us.

Psalm 34

18. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. 19. The righteous person may have many troubles,  but the Lord delivers him from them all;

God has a way of turning our Misfortune into great fortunes. He says come all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.

Maybe you lost your donkeys of finances, job, business marriage, health, joy, peace and even salvation. And umekuwa ukitafuta kila mahali unajua (and you have been looking for them everywhere you know of). And as it is now, you are hopeless, disappointed very weary yet umekosa na umechoka (you have not found them and you are tired). Don't Give up, don't go back,  come we see the Lord today.

God wants to minister to you because Jesus is here today. He has something more than the donkeys you are looking for.

He wants to bless your life and change your destiny. The loss of your donkeys was to make you come and find him.

Hali yako ilikuwa ni njia ya kukutana na Mungu ili akubariki (Your condition was a way of you meeting with God in order for Him to bless you). He has more than you are seeking this day. Ako na mawazo mazuri juu ya maisha yako (He has good plans for you concerning your life). Come and see more than a prophet.
