Revelation 21: 9:27
There are unbelievable, beautiful, marvellous mind-boggling things, places that exist. Some are natural and others are man-made things that one can only imagine or dream yet they are real.
As wonderful and profound as they are, Nothing on earth compares to anything that Jesus has prepared for us.
1 Corinthians 2:9-10
[9]However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived” —the things God has prepared for those who love him—
[10]these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.
Our future ultimate city
1. The Builder and maker of the city
It is not man-made but made by God. If men can build such profound cities just think of what God can make. It is simply a wonder.
Revelation 21:10
[10]And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.
Hebrews 11:10
[10]For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
2. The Glory and the beauty of the city
Nothing like this exists the beautiful is profound and
Revelation 21:11
[11]It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.
3. Security of the city
Every city is proud of its security and privacy that's why people moves to Runda and Kileleshwa but there no city is crime-free. The new Jerusalem is perfectly secure.
Revelation 21:12
[12]It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel.
4. The quality of the city
Even the most elegant city in the world is simply made using ordinary materials namely mortar and bricks, steel and glass. Our future city is unbelievable and unimaginable, Jasper and pure gold. The best human-made structure is simply ugly trash in heavenly standards
Revelation 21:18
[18]The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass.
Revelation 21:21
[21]The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.
Consider this:
Just think of the most expensive car, house or city in the world. It is made up of quality, expensive but ordinary materials but not pure gold that resembled glass. In heaven, the dust and dirt of heaven is pure gold yet way far greater than the best of this world.
So if you went with the best of this world to heaven, the only place it can fit is in the rubbish pit outside because it can only fit in the class of garbage.
Nothing inside is of such worthless value and no place can be found for it.
The best of what the world offers is like garbage when compared with what awaits us in heaven.
when we neglect our salvation and get carried away getting busy amassing worldly material, we simply look like chokoras busy on the garbage site scavaging for what has no value. Strive for the heavenly riches. What you are craving and dying for is simply nice garbage as good as it is that is why you will not go with it.
Colossians 3:1-3
[1]Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
[2]Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
[3]For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
Don't settle for less. Our salvation qualifies us for true riches, real wealth, eternal life and heavenly blessing don't let worldly worthless riches captivate your heart. Nothing on earth compares to what awaits us. Don't lose focus set your eyes and heart firmly on the things above.
6. The architecture of the city
God is a master designer. This city is simply an architectural marvel, in size, design and dimensions it is a floating city hanging on air and its walls beautiful foundation is clearly visible. Normally every building has its ugly foundation buried below the suffice. Forget about the floating Dubai villas.
Revelation 21:13-16
[13]There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west.
[14]The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
[15]The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls.
[16]The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia(2220km) in length, and as wide and high as it is lon
[17]The angel measured the wall using human measurement, and it was 144 cubits thick. (about 66meters)
7. The greatness of the city
Every city prides itself on its greatness. People want to go and live in the greatest cities of the world like Dubai or Newyork
But nothing compared to the greatness of this magnificent city by all standards
Revelation 21:13-21
[13]There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west.
[14]The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
[15]The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls.
[18]The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass.
[19]The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald,
[20]the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.
[21]The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.
8. The lighting of the city
God is light and Jesus was the light of men John 1:4
Revelation 21:23-24
[23]The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.
[24]The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendour into it.
10. The accessibility of the city
It will always be accessible any time but to only those who are with it
Revelation 21:25-27
[25]On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there.
[26]The glory and honour of the nations will be brought into it.
[27]Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
11. Life in the city
This city blossoms and flourish with its full of abundant eternal life. There is no death or sicknesses
Every person seeks the city that offers the best life.
One key requirement of a city is an ample supply of clean water.
Revelation 22:1
Constant abundant life-giving water growing from the thrown of God.
The easiest way to kill a city is simply contaminating its water supply.
2 Kings 2:19
[19]The people of the city said to Elisha, “Look, our lord, this town is well situated, as you can see, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive.”
v2 The city is full of life and health
There is the tree of life that sustains life constantly with its leaves bringing healing.
No death or sicknesses
v3-5The city is blessed.
Every town has a spirit that rules it and gives it a given reputation.
This is a blessed city no curse as the throne of God and the lamb is there.
It is filled with God's presence and it has no nights just lovely glorious blessed endless days. Nights are the worst times when all bad things happen and activities or productivity is limited
Philippians 3:7-8
[7]But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.
[8]What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ.
Paul had a good and clear view of the incomparable riches and glories awaiting us in heaven.
let us choose to find peace and contentment by turning our thoughts to the eternal (heaven, everlasting life, joy, peace, his presence) There will come a day when we will realize that the stressful, worrying hours we spent on the temporary worldly things were a waste of time.
As C. S. Lewis observed, "All that is not eternal is eternally useless".
