Hebrews 12:15 See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.
How to be on guard
a) Reading the word of God
Matthew 4:4- Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
Have the word of God in you. Jesus won over the temptations through the word.
b) Prayer
Daniel 6.10- Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.
You should always be in prayer. Daniel prayed three times a day. Your life should be a life of prayer. Choose to change and begin to be like Christ.
c) Be clean and righteous
Psalms 51.10- 10 Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Work on your salvation. It is like a door- not anything or everyone is supposed to enter.
d) Having a broken and a contrite spirit
Ezekiel 37-25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. 28 Then you will live in the land I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God. 29 I will save you from all your uncleanness. I will call for the grain and make it plentiful and will not bring famine upon you.
God will not reject a humble spirit.
