Main Scriptures: Proverbs 9:10-12
- Wisdom is seen in how you live your life or how you spend your time and life
- Wisdom determines your life. Therefore wisdom dictates that:
1. Secure your life
• Any wise person will use his precious time to secure his life or future
• We are born dead because of Adamic sin and remain dead unless we are born again through Christ
• In God's eyes we still remain dead and our lives start counting when we receive Jesus
Ephesians 2:1-2
[1]As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,
[2]In which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.
Colossians 2:13-14
[13]When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,
[14]having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross
• The life we have is an opportunity to redeem our lives and prepare for life after death. We must use our time and opportunity we have to secure our life and eternity.
But how?
• You must be born again
John 3:3
[3]Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. ”
• Nicodemus was a very religious, good and versed with the law but he struggled with the issues of life of eternity. No matter how good you are or religious before men you are a sinner before a holy God until you are born again.
• You can never be good enough without Christ
you can never attain God righteousness standards on your own. Nicodemus was also every educated, a teacher and a man of status and probably wealthy. None of these can save you. You must be born again. The truth is that we are all great sinners even in our best human form and needs regeneration
Isaiah 64:6
[6]All of us have become like one who is unclean,
and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags;
we all shrivel up like a leaf,
and like the wind our sins sweep us away.
Bottom line is, we are all sinners
Romans 3:23-24
[23]for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
[24]and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
• When we believe in Jesus, He imputes his righteousness on us and when God looks at us he does not see our rag righteousness but the righteousness of Christ. We are made righteous through Christ when we believe in Him
Isaiah 61:10
[10]I delight greatly in the Lord;
my soul rejoices in my God.
For he has arrayed me with garments of salvation
and clothed me in a robe of his righteousness,
as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
How do we get born again?
Acts 16:30-31
[30]He then brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
[31]They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”
Romans 10:9-10
[9]If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
[10]For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
John 3:16-
There is no other way
John 14:6
[6]Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
The big questions is:
Matthew 16:26
[26] What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
Are you born again?
Why did get saved????
2. Secure your walk(1cor 9:24-27 run to win don’t be disqualified)
Being born again requires a change of character
1 Peter 3:10-11
[10]For,
“Whoever would love life
and see good days
must keep their tongue from evil
and their lips from deceitful speech.
[11]They must turn from evil and do good;
they must seek peace and pursue it.
2 Corinthians 7:1
[1]Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
2 Timothy 2:19
[19] Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”
Ephesian 4:1
live a life worthy of the calling you have received.
• You cannot be born again and continue living carelessly
3. Secure your salvation
Some people believe once saved always saved but the truth is you can lose your salvation
2 Peter 1:10
[10] Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble,
Philippians 2:12
[12]Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,
Revelation 3:5 your name can be blotted out of the book of life
4. Secure your reward
Ephesians 6:7-8
[7]Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people,
[8]because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free.
Matthew 19:29
[29]And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.
