John 4:19:24
As church reopens many people are very excited to come back. Most people will tell you they miss church which is true because most people have come to love the church more than God. Most Christians love and enjoy church and what they do in church more than their relationship with God. Before church closed, we had come to a place where it was a greater sin to miss church than to miss God's will. Christians are okay just to be in church doing the church thing regardless of what God wants for or with their life. The Sunday church event has become the centre of everything. This is what religion does. It is what Jesus was addressing as false worship and false worshipers which is about a particular location performing certain usual rituals at a given time.
True worship can not happen in a religious context because religion is external and physical. it is ritualistic.
Worship is an inner attitude and feeling of awe, reverence, gratitude, and love toward God resulting from a realization of who He is and who we are.
Worship is loving God. Worship is honouring God. Worship is knowing God for who He is, adoring Him, obeying Him, proclaiming Him as a way of life. Worship is not music. Music is one way we express that adoration.”
True worship is therefore relational not religion
Jonathan Edward's said.
God created the world for His own glory. Everything he does is for His Glory. So God is seeking worshipers who will bring Him glory, not just for an hour on Sunday, but every day through all their activities. We can’t properly worship God on Sundays if we’re not worshipping Him throughout the week.
Colossians 3:23
[23]Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,
1 Cor. 10:31 “Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” Thus all of life is to be oriented towards God in recognition of His majesty and glory.
Everything we do, say or think should have a worship aspect as in it honours God. The way we spend 90% of our income should honour God in the same manner tithing do because we are stewards. Our jobs, careers and businesses are ministry platforms to glorify God and we need to have altars right there.
Worship is, therefore, a lifestyle. The way we live every day loving God. It cannot be an event at a particular place on a Sunday.
True worship is possible only when
1. We realise we were created for His glory. Worship is our main calling.
Psalm 34:1
[1]I will extol the Lord at all times;
his praise will always be on my lips.
Praise is not just on Sunday and doesn't have to be in songs.
2. The fear of God(ever conscious of the presence of God), He is Spirit, holy and omnipresent
Psalm 139:7
[7]Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
3. True worship if we realise we no secular and sacred life
Romans 12:1
[1]Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.
Galatians 2:20
[20]I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me...
As we come back my prayer is that we are not eager to come and continue with the religion but be the worshipers God is seeking.
God is not seeking for leaders pastors, ushers or musicians but God is seeking for true worshipers.
