Waiting Upon the Lord- May 3, 2020

1 Samuel 13:1-14
Waiting on God is one of the hardest things in our walk of faith. We operate in a time frame and so timings are critical for us. If something does not happen at expected time, we usually get anxious and impatient thus we want to do something.
Especially after this crisis everyone will want to move with speed to catch up the lost time but we may likely end up worse and miss the best.
Personally am impatient and God through my wife has been teaching me to be patient.
When things are critical and people pressed like now, it is very easy to become desperate and fail to wait on God.
When we act at our own time, it is always a disaster as it happened with Saul. Unfortunately, we tend to do so when our miracle is just at the door post having waited all this time. We abort the miracle just before while we should have waited just a little bit longer.
It is darkest before dawn but not yet time.

Lesson on how to wait on the Lord
1. Focus on God and not on your circumstances
Vs:6 When the men of Israel saw that their situation was critical and that their army was hard pressed, they hid in caves and thickets, among the rocks, and in pits and cisterns.
Saul had maintained calmness even for the seven days until the soldiers started leaving. He saw things were getting worse and Samuel was not coming.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.... focus on God not situation as this is what causes worry and call for action. This means seeing God and not your circumstances.

2. Remember God's time is the best.
Vs 13 Saul waited for the 7 days time set by Samuel. Meaning perfect time.
Anything more than this would not make sense For him it was about time.
As soon as this time was over he took matter in his own hands, he felt Samuel was late and something had to be done. You may be getting late but God is never late. He comes at the right time. The worst part is we take matters into our own hands when God is just about to show up having waited all that long. We mess up everything.
Habakkuk 2: 3 the vision awaits it appointed time; though it may tally it will surely come to pass.
Ecclesiastes. 3:11 He makes all things beautiful in his time.

3. Wait patiently
Waiting is not enough but it requires the right altitude. It means, It doesn’t matter how long it takes I am here to wait.
V13 just as he finished, Samuel came.
The key to waiting on God is patience.
Patience is possible when we occupy ourselves with God's things and let God do the timing.
Someone said if you are waiting on God do what waiters do, serving. Just be busy and you will not even notice time is running out.

Zechariah the father of John the Baptist.
Luke 1; 8 - Once when Zachariah was on duty and was serving as a priest before God.
Vs 11- the Angel of the lord of the lord appeared
Remember God's delays are not denial.
Psalms 27:14  Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
Psalms 40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.

4. Remember God has the best.
V13 ...established your king forever but now another man will take over
No matter what we do, we can never yield better results than God. Actually we short change ourselves the worst with the best. Actually we mess our blessings.
Isaiah 40:31 but those who wait on the LORD. He will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Sarah at 90 became a young lady conceiving and breastfeeding while her peers were old grandmothers.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 He makes all things beautiful in his time. Things just fall into place. For now God is arranging the puzzle.

Conclusion
No matter how tough or bad the situation is waiting on God. His time is the best.
