The Just shall live by FAITH………..
John 5: 1-9
• Why did Jesus heal just this man among the many who were here.
• He was a v(14)sinner and he did not even know him or asked him for healing
• There was a multitude waiting for the moving of the water; yet Jesus addressed this particular man, knowing that he had been waiting a long time to be healed. This man demonstrated qualities of persistence, perseverance, and patience something we need to emulate at a such a time.
• Although he felt helplessness he was full of hoped and believed healing will was his portion. He hoped if someone would helped him into the water at the right time he would be healed, but he had “no man” to do that. Jesus must have seen in this man receptivity to healing.
Acts 14:8-10
[8]In Lystra there sat a man who was lame. He had been that way from birth and had never walked. [9]He listened to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed [10]and called out, “Stand up on your feet!” At that, the man jumped up and began to walk.
JESUS saw the faith in this man that was real faith only that he did not know Jesus.
Hebrews 11:1
[1]Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:,6
[6]And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
• This man's faith pleased Jesus and He rewarded him.
• For a moment think this
• This man was invalid laying on a mat enable to move but kept trying
• He was in this condition long enough to just give up but choose to hold on
• He stood no chance against less disabled fellows yet he never gave up
• He did not know when l the next visitation will be but he was still ready to wait
• He had no one to help him like the rest yet he did not quit
• He hoped on hope that somehow sometime in the future he will get his healing even though nothing was in his favor.
He had every reason to give up but held on and would not leave without his miracle. Just as he hoped to have a man to help him, Jesus came and specifically for him. Though he was helpless Jesus had him in mind. From this we can see. This did not happens by chance but it was a Divine encounter
As you keep your hope and faith alive I want to remind you 3 things:
1. God knows your situation
V6 When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”
• Jesus just asked the man do you want to get well. He never asked about the details of his condition. He knew this man was in need for a long time and the nature of his need. God knows your pain, fears, wants and battles. He knows what you are going through and the pain in your life
Job 23:10
[10]But he knows the way that I take; When he has tested me, I will come forth as gold. Bwana anajua Mapito yako mpendwa
Psalms 56;8 record my misery, list my tears on your scroll. Are they not in your records?
2. God knows where you are
This man's family was nowhere and maybe he thought no one who matters even knows where I am. But Jesus came directly to him without missing him. He knew where to find him. He did not find Jesus but Jesus found him. You may be in your very dark place [lodiba] but Jesus will surely find you wherever you are.
Genesis 16:13
[13]She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”
3. God has your solution
John 5:6,8-9
V[8]Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.”
V[9]At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. The day on which this took place was a Sabbath,
• Jesus did not come to sympathize with the man or give him an appointment. He came with the right solution ready. The man was made whole instant. There were no sessions or trials. God knows what you need and has a tailor made solution for you and for every situation in your life.
Philippians 4:19
[19]And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
